Fun Town

When I went to Howalton Day School I went to the amusement park called Fun Town. It was located on 95th and Stony Island Ave. There was roller coasters and other rides. There was games booths and plenty of fun for everyone. In the early 50's and 60's people of African desent wasn't allowed to go in Fun Town until Martin Luther King's daughter wanted to enjoy the amusement park too.  That was when the rules changed to include everyone.

Old Chicago

When I went to Howalton Day School Iwent to Old Chicago the indoor amusement park in the winter time with a neighbor. I went on the Chicago Loop another roller coaster that went upside down. I ate at a Wendy's resturant for the first time. Wendy's had the best hamburgers and fries in the world.

Great America

During the years that I went to Howalton Day School and in the seventh grade Mrs. Smith took us in her car to Great America. I rode the demon a roller coaster that goes upside down. That was the year I had a crush on Christoper Reeve that was before he died.  He had the most beautiful blue eyes. He was a stone fox. I bought a supeman poster.

Caferteria Staff

Before Howalton Day School ran out of money the school had enough money to hire caferteria staff.  They served cornbeef hash, buttered bread, fishsticks, etc. when the school couldn't afford them anymore we brown bag it.
